Duplex board is a multi-layer paperboard consisting of two or more layers of pulp — typically a bright white clay-coated front surface for printing, and a grey or white back surface for structural support. The term "duplex" literally refers to this two-faced construction.
It is manufactured from recycled or virgin fibre, and is the primary substrate for folding cartons and packaging boxes across virtually every consumer goods category — from pharmaceutical blister packs and FMCG cartons to cosmetics packaging and electronics boxes.
Sapphox Ventures supplies duplex board in both Grey-Back (GD/LWC) and White-Back (WB/HWC) variants, sourced from established Indian board mills. Custom GSM, caliper, and sheet sizes available for bulk orders.
Understanding the multi-layer construction of duplex board
Understanding the key differences helps you choose the right board for your packaging application.
The most widely used duplex board. White coated front for printing, grey recycled back. Cost-effective and ideal for standard packaging where the inner surface is not visible.
Premium duplex board with white surfaces on both sides. Used where the inside of the packaging is visible to the consumer — such as tuck-in flap cartons, cosmetics, and luxury retail boxes.
